Here are a couple of new 5-Minute maps. The first one has stairs leading to a room with a balcony. It goes on to some dungeon cells, a trap in front of a false door and some side rooms. The second one is a cave complex, there is a large cavern with a pool of water. There is also a series of tunnels and caves that go deeper underground. The second map I did as a 5-Minute map, but then took a couple of extra minutes to detail it with rocks, dirt and extra cross-hatching. (I couldn’t resist making it a little more detailed). So it is not a true “5-Minute Map” but I kind of like the way it looks now.

Some new 5-Minute Maps
~ Attention. Here’s an update on tonight’s dinner. It was veal. I repeat, veal. The winner of tonight’s mystery meat contest is Jeffrey Corbin who guessed “some kind of beef.”~
I drew this sitting at my desk the other day over my lunch hour. It’s mostly just a doodle, I didn’t have any of my Sharpie pens handy, so I was using a Sharpie marker with ultra fine point. The lines from that marker are not nearly as crisp as I am used to. I was just doodling away on a small yellow legal pad and this map is the result. It is a simple cave network with an underground river that leads outside. There is a seperate cave that is only accessible through the underground river. In that cave is a casket, I wonder what is inside? As always enjoy…
5-Minute Map # 3….The Shortcut?
Here is my third 5-minute map. Very similar to the last one, except I envisioned this one as a passage through an impassable cliff face or something like that. My rope bridge turned out a little better than the last one. I drew this one right after the second one, so those ideas were still running around in my head, just executed it a bit better. As always enjoy!
5-Minute Map # 2….Not so good….
This was my next attempt at a 5-Minute map, this one just didn’t turn out so good. The bridge across the crevice was supposed to be a rope and plank bridge, it sure didn’t end up looking that way. It was only 5 minutes, so no big deal, these things really teach you to focus and draw quickly. For me, I like to get in some cross-hatching so I try to leave a little time at the end to do that, just hard to do. Enjoy!
My first 5-Minute Map
I have been watching the whole 5-Minute map thing lately, and decided to have a go at it. Man, 5 minutes is not very much time, but it is kind of fun to draw against a timer. This one was done in exactly 5 mins, I set the sharpie pen down when the timer went off. I did erase the grid lines, and did an anisotropic diffuse of the image in photoshop to smooth out the lines (something I always do with my maps and geomorphs). I did another 7 of these things, some are ok, some not so good. I’ll post those as well.
