New Pocket Full of Perils From Sword & Shield

     Fenway 5 over at Sword & Shield Rocks Face..!!! He used a couple more my maps and turned them into some of his very cool Pocket Full of Peril formats.  I really enjoy seeing the direction he goes with these.  Its usually not the way I envisioned them, which makes it so fascinating for me to see the finished creation.  Thats one of the things I like about the creative side of  OSR blogging, you create something, put it out there for people to use however they want, then watch the magic happen.

      The first PFoP Fenway created “Bleak Water Village”  was from one of my personal favorite maps.  A pencil drawing of a village I drew over 10 years ago.  I posted it a while ago in one of my “Friday Mystery Meat” posts.  The way he ended up describing the village and buildings was awesome, a complete 180 from the way I saw it, but so much more fun.  Here is the original map.

Here is Fenway5’s version, in his handy dandy PFoP format, just click on the image to go to the post on his blog.

      The next PFoP is #10 “The Rising of the Wickerman”  this one really blew me away, he used one of my vertical maps “The Burial Crypt” and turned it into a very imaginative little PFoP. Check out this gem from his description of it;

                   “Search parties were created, adventurers hired and eventually many years later on a bleak and withered hill a tomb door was found with one word–WICKERMAN inscribed upon it.”

      The sense of dread created by that sentence, with the single inscription “Wickerman” really shines IMHO. I highly recommend checking it out, the man does some really great stuff.  Click on the image to go to post for this. One final word on Sword & Shield, Fenway5 has created a lot of really great little pocket mod games over there, so go check it out.  Keep up the great work Fenway!

About this blog

    This blog came into being after I discovered the OSR blog scene. I was inspired by Dyson Logos and his blog, specifically his geomorph project. Check out his awesome work: "Dyson's Dodecahedron" The style and the simple elegance of his 10 x 10 squares put me on a mapping roll. I have blatently (...and respectfully) emulated his style and now have pages upon pages of geomorphs. Along with more location specific maps in that same style.

   My intent for this blog is for it to be more than just maps and geomorphs. However, for now, I'm just enjoying this burst of creativity inspired by Dyson and the entire OSR community.
