Geomorph 31 (Set 6) …..The Hive…..

The new theme for this set is “The Hive”. Earlier I asked for some new ideas for themes, and got a lot of really great ideas. I picked Fenway5’s idea “The Hive” because it sounded like fun, and it definitely got me to get out of my “Comfort Zone”. To all the others who offered suggestions for themes, have no fear, as I will be using some of your suggestions in future sets. It actually took me awhile to finalize the look for this set, but I am pleased with the results. I pictured all of the worker chambers to be almost always on a lower level than their overlords, warriors, etc, therefore I made these into multi-level geomorphs.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them. I’m even toying with the idea of designing stats and pics of some kind of insectoid race of workers, warriors, overlords, and a Queen, just to go with this set.

I like the cells that are in this. I also like the height differences. Two thumbs up!

Ooo, nice. As it happens, I’m working on converting a How to Host a Dungeon dungeon and it has a colony of giant bugs in it. These geomorphs will certainly be incorporated.

And I’m a sucker for hexes. I blame Steve “The Fantasy Trip” Jackson.

About this blog

This blog came into being after I discovered the OSR blog scene. I was inspired by Dyson Logos and his blog, specifically his geomorph project. Check out his awesome work: "Dyson's Dodecahedron" The style and the simple elegance of his 10 x 10 squares put me on a mapping roll. I have blatently (...and respectfully) emulated his style and now have pages upon pages of geomorphs. Along with more location specific maps in that same style.

My intent for this blog is for it to be more than just maps and geomorphs. However, for now, I'm just enjoying this burst of creativity inspired by Dyson and the entire OSR community.
