New Pocket Full of Peril From Sword & Shield

Fenway5 over Sword & Shield has posted another Pocket Full of Peril based on one of my geomorphs. It is second of the “long strip” geomorphs I posted awhile back as a Friday “Mystery Meat”…!!! I really enjoy the way things get created in this corner of the OSR blog-o-sphere. This entire blog (and the style of my geomorphs) was directly inspired by Dyson’s over at RPG Characters. Actually there are several different sets of geomorphs out there based on his elegant yet simple 10×10 – 2 entrances per side-geomorphs. Risus Monkey’s, Aeons & Augauries, to name a few. These were then used in a really great random tile mapper by Dave Millar at Dave’s Mapper. Fenway5 at Sword & Shield uses the geomorphs to create his very cool “Pocket Full of Peril” mini-dungeons. It just seems to keep snowballing and I rather enjoy the process. I also get a real kick out of all the new stuff that keeps getting created. Enough of my ramblings, here’s the new “Pocket Full of Peril” from Sword & Shield.

Very cool as always. In addition to finding maps like these interesting, I’m also kind of an office supply geek and love seeing the myriad of uses for index cards.

Also, thank you for the plug. On the opposite side of the spectrum from the extra-long geomorphs, I was wondering if you would be interested in coming up with some half-tile geomorphs for a yet-to-be-implemented feature in the mapper. If you’re interested and have time to do so, please e-mail me and let me know so I can send you the details. If not, no worries.

About this blog

This blog came into being after I discovered the OSR blog scene. I was inspired by Dyson Logos and his blog, specifically his geomorph project. Check out his awesome work: "Dyson's Dodecahedron" The style and the simple elegance of his 10 x 10 squares put me on a mapping roll. I have blatently (...and respectfully) emulated his style and now have pages upon pages of geomorphs. Along with more location specific maps in that same style.

My intent for this blog is for it to be more than just maps and geomorphs. However, for now, I'm just enjoying this burst of creativity inspired by Dyson and the entire OSR community.
