…..Friday’s “Mystery Meat”…..

~ Attention. Here’s an update on tonight’s dinner. It was veal. I repeat, veal. The winner of tonight’s mystery meat contest is Jeffrey Corbin who guessed “some kind of beef.”~

Help yourself to yet another serving of Friday’s “Mystery Meat”. This week’s “Mystery Meat” is the Atomic Cafe’. It’s going to be the starting point for a Mutant Future campaign with my kids. A few weeks back I was reading a game report on the first session or two of a Mutant Future game over at Green Skeleton Gaming Guild. I got hooked.

I had already downloaded the rules, so after reading that blog, I decided to create a character. It was a simple, yet fun process and I ended up with a two-headed mutant human with a prehensile tail. He also has some other fun mutations like shriek and teleport. Long story short, I showed the kids my character, and with in the hour they had all made up their own characters. Of course now we have to get a game going.

I started writing up some basics for our up-coming first game, and The Atomic Cafe’ sprang to life, remember this is still just a work in progress. Here’s a link to the PDF of The Atomic Cafe’. I’ll be expanding on this with some maps and more descriptions as I go, I’ve decided to really just let this game world grow organically through play with the kids. It will be fun to see where it goes. I also created a Mutant Future random posessions table which was inspired by this post at Green Skeleton Gaming Guild. I only have a thirty item table right now. But I plan to expand it to 100 items. Anyway here it is, The Mutant Future Random Posessions Table” full of d30 goodness. I’m going to have every player roll 1d6 for the number of random posessions.

I hope you noticed, that I included the Hula Dancer, the broken cell phone, and the Moto-Cycle helmet in my list. Just seemed like the right thing to do…pay a little homage to the inspiration. I am looking forward to working more on “The Atomic Cafe’”

About this blog

This blog came into being after I discovered the OSR blog scene. I was inspired by Dyson Logos and his blog, specifically his geomorph project. Check out his awesome work: "Dyson's Dodecahedron" The style and the simple elegance of his 10 x 10 squares put me on a mapping roll. I have blatently (...and respectfully) emulated his style and now have pages upon pages of geomorphs. Along with more location specific maps in that same style.

My intent for this blog is for it to be more than just maps and geomorphs. However, for now, I'm just enjoying this burst of creativity inspired by Dyson and the entire OSR community.
